ABS Nautical Systems Holds First International User Conference in Vancouver

(Houston, Texas) ABS Nautical Systems, the world’s fastest growing provider of fleet management software, hosted its 2010 Annual User Conference, 12 - 14 October 2010 in Vancouver BC, Canada.

The conference hosted approximately 150 industry professionals from more than 50 maritime companies, who learned about the new functionalities and enhancements offered in ABS Nautical Systems’ technology suite NS5. Attendees were also able to network and collaborate with industry colleagues, sharing best practices and product development ideas for the future.

“With our software suite constantly evolving to meet industry needs, we use this conference as a platform to garner user feedback and insights that help strengthen our core products and services,” said Karen Hughey, President and COO of ABS Nautical Systems. “We understand our responsibility as a software company is to provide our customers with not only usability, but stability.”

Participants were able to directly impact the future direction of the NS5 software suite during the open-dialogue sessions by providing valuable insights through real-life experiences with the technology, as well as their current and future needs.

“There is a lot of value in holding an event such as this, as together the industry is able to work toward a common goal, promote change, and give direction that will impact us all as the software is developed.” said David Kramer, Fleet Manager for Seaspan. “By having a regular, collaborative dialogue with ABS Nautical Systems, we are able to treat them as a business partner as opposed to a vendor,” added Kevin Gillies, Senior Analyst for Atlantic Towing Limited.

The conference offered 16 breakouts sessions in the following categories:  Maintenance; Business Intelligence; Workforce; HSQE; Supply Chain and IT. Attendees participated in a live, hands-on demonstration of the new NS5 Micro Server and also learned about topics such as ABS Nautical Systems’ new barcode scanning technology; the Hull Inspection module’s integration within the NS5 suite; Condition Based Maintenance; the Rapid Response Damage Assessment (RRDA) program; and the new N-Tier (Single Shoreside Database Architecture) functionality.
