China Extends Use of Low Sulphur Fuel to 11 Ports as of January 1, 2017

The Chinese Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) has advised that as of January 1, 2017, ships berthing at six additional key ports (Guangzhou, Huanghua, Qinhuangdao, Tangshan, Tianjin and Zhuhai) are required to burn bunker fuel with a sulphur content cap of 0.5%.  Alternatively, the MSA will allow the use of exhaust gas cleaning systems in all 11 ports.
