NCSR 9 Brief
The IMO Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue (NCSR) Sub-Committee held its 9th session remotely from June 21 to 30, 2022. This Brief provides an overview of the more significant issues discussed at this session, which include matters pertaining to mandatory carriage of electronic inclinometers on container ships and bulk carriers, revised standards for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), and safety measures for Non-SOLAS Ships operating in polar waters. While new regulations developed by the NCSR Sub-Committee are not finalized until approved by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), a review of the Sub-Committee’s activity can provide a forecast of future regulatory developments.
