North American and U.S. Caribbean Sea ECA – Understanding Compliance Issues

The US EPA, in response to repeated questions regarding ECA compliance issues, has issued a Frequently Asked Questions document. Situations addressed range from handling of exhaust gas scrubber effluent, NOx Tier III compliance for dual fuel engines and fitting of non-Tier III compliant engines on vessels constructed on/after Jan 1, 2016. The document is intended to provide general guidance and frequently refers to situations that will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
