SSE 8 Brief

The IMO Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE) Sub-Committee held its 8th session remotely from February 28 to March 4, 2022. This Brief provides an overview of the more significant issues discussed at this session, which include matters pertaining to Ventilation in Survival Craft, Fire Safety on Ro-Ro Passenger Ships, and New Standards for Onboard Lifting Appliances and Anchor Handling Winches. While new regulations developed by the SSE Sub-Committee are not finalized until approved by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), a review of the Sub-Committee’s activity can provide a forecast of future regulatory developments.
